Each year nearly four million people visit Yellowstone National Park. Taking pictures is in our DNA - nearly everyone that goes there takes travel photos. The problem is - they all look the same and most of them are, well - boring...
Couple that with the fact that most everyone wants to see bears, but unfortunately most people come away disappointed.
Learn where and how to find the bears, wolves and other wildlife, how to get great shots and how to make your photos stand out.
Written by a well-traveled photographer team, this guide will be a great companion on your trip to America's first national park. It includes what gear to take for each season, when to go and information you need to answer the question everyone asks - Where are the Bears?

Yellowstone for Nature Photographers eBook John Narad Sue Narad Reviews
For a beginner in photography, it's easy to read and understand. Time to go shoot pictures in Yellowstone National Park!
It really helps to have this to plan your vacation before you go. You don't want to return home and find out you missed something spectacular
The author of this book goes in depth during each season of the year, so no matter when you're planning your trip you know exactly what to expect and what NOT to expect. I myself was a tad disappointed that so many people each year leave the park without seeing bears, but hey, can't win em all I suppose. In the long run it's probably a good thing. Less maulings and all that. I was glad to see how to handle a bear encounter in the park should it happen though. I could tell the author was a seasoned Yellowstone veteran and knew their stuff. I haven't gone to the park yet, but if/when I do I will be sure to give this a throrough re-reading.
Now let's talk a bit about the photography. Beautiful, BEAUTIFUL photographs. I have never had the skill nor talent to wield a camera with the dexterity necessary to produce high quality art. Good thing I can live vicariously through this book! The author managed shots of wildlife including bears (of course!), bison, foxes, wolves, birds, critters of indeterminable species, and, my favorite, landscapes! If you do have the dexterity to wield a camera there is also a section in the book that goes in detail about what camera gear to bring and how to make the most of your photos.
My take? Photographer, traveler, or tourist, give this book a read. You'll be glad you did!
I'm so excited to go take pictures in Yellowstone now. This guide is very detailed, and I feel prepared to take my best shots!
This book would be better titled "Yellowstone For People Who Have Never Taken Pictures Before And Who Like Bad Jokes".
I was hoping for a book of advice from a well-seasoned photographer with plenty of Yellowstone experience on where to go, what to bring, where the photogenic spots are, etc - in other words, what a nature photographer needs to know about Yellowstone, specifically.
Unfortunately, what you get here is a very limited amount of the above, with a number of chapters devoted to actual photography itself (rule of thirds, defining and explaining the modes such as aperture priority, etc) and discussing the merits of an SLR versus a point-and-shoot. Really? Oh, and the jokes... The bad jokes that seem like filler the author felt compelled to include at almost every turn to get the book to a length commensurate with the price paid. This book actually suggests to determine if a bear is nearby by testing the temperature of its scat with your finger - oh, ha ha! No! But if you do, take a video and send it to him - it will get a million views on YouTube!
Sadly, the free sample skips all of the inane parts of the book, tricking you into thinking that true value lies ahead. It doesn't. Of the seemingly valuable information, 95% is common sense (bring a jacket in winter) and 5% is not terribly specific (you'll want a wide angle for landscapes, medium zoom, and a long lens - gee, thanks..)
I took one for the team. Save your money.
I would have preferred more on photography and less on wait to wear and other stuff.
